ABOUT

Winner of a 2010 Boston Phoenix Best Music Award as voted on by listeners, and invited to perform at Howard Zinn’s memorial service alongside Noam Chomsky, Vikesh Kapoor writes timeless, magnetic melodies harnessed by a modern lyricism, which resonates clear and true.

He has toured nationally, booking tours and traveling on his own, but has also supported AA Bondy, Willy Mason, Tim Fite and The Felice Brothers

Kapoor has previously worked with producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter) and is currently working on his debut album with producer Adam Selzer (M. Ward, the Decemberists, Langhorne Slim) in Portland, OR.

PRESS

“At first glance Kapoor looks like the second coming of iconic troubadour Woody Guthrie. And when he opens his mouth, you think he just might be.” -The Boston Globe

“Kapoor is no gimmick; he is a true folk aficionado whose music references traditionalists like Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. His fiery performances have inspired a frenzy of hooting and hollering at house shows, communal foot stomping at P.A.’s Lounge and even captured the attention of Josh Ritter, for whom he played in a moonlit alley outside Club Passim.” -Billboard.com

“Kapoor’s future as a songwriter is bright, and Newspress Scare is merely a glimpse into his potential.” -Captain Obvious

Long-standing blog “I Guess I’m Floating” featured Kapoor in their Music Alliance Pact. His version of “Mack the Knife” was highlighted and shared on contributing blogs around the world. View here
